Midterm Exercise

3 Techniques 3 Affordances

For your midterm you will produce three formal diagrams based on three different techniques we covered in class. Each diagram will create three affordances in one form. You will use the tiling technique (based on tutorial 5), an animated form technique (based on tutorial 6) and a cell primitive technique (based on tutorial 7). Each formal diagram should be an original form- not a retooling of the tutorials. Each formal diagram should embody three affordance- shown by using the 3D people.

Even though this is a introductory exercise, you must show control of the technique and an understanding of the formal logic. The majority of your grade will be based on your ability to show strong digital craftsmanship.

Deliverables:
You will need to upload 3 process images on the blog (one of each diagram )on
2/23/10, and than again on 3/2/10. The process images should be clear, include 3D people and show intent of what is being modeled.

On 3/9/10 you will turn in a CD with 9 rendered images, 3 for each diagram. And the Maya files of the project. You will also be expected to upload the 9 rendered images to the blog.

Here are a few images to help you
